CHARLES G. BAKALY IV practices law in the areas of business and complex litigation, eminent domain and inverse condemnation litigation, real estate and land use litigation, intellectual property litigation, unfair competition and trade secrets litigation, and labor and employment litigation.  Mr. Bakaly represents and advises business entities of all kinds, including fortune 500 companies, individuals, private property owners, contractors, and public agencies.

Mr. Bakaly received both his Bachelor of Arts degree and his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California.  Prior to attending law school, Mr. Bakaly served for two years as the Executive Assistant to Ambassador Richard L. Armitage, former United States Deputy Secretary of State.  While in law school, Mr. Bakaly served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Dale S. Fischer of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Bakaly is a member of the American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  Mr. Bakaly formerly served as both the Chair and the Vice Chair of LACBA’s Armed Forces Committee, of which he remains an active member.  The Armed Forces Committee provides pro-bono legal services and assistance to active-duty military members, veterans, and their families throughout Los Angeles County.

In 2023, Mr. Bakaly was selected to the 2023 Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation.  Mr. Bakaly is a member of the Globalaw Leadership Programme (GLP).

Represented a drayage and transportation company in a breach of contract action for services related to transportation and storage goods through the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

Represent a private landowner in an action for inverse condemnation following a county’s taking of the landowner’s property for public use; matter ongoing.

Represent a private landowner in an action for inverse condemnation for seven-figure damages following actions taken by the federal government that amounted to a taking of the landowner’s property; matter ongoing.
