WILLIAM A. MEYERS is a trial lawyer specializing in complex business litigation, trade secret disputes, and legal malpractice defense.  Mr. Meyers has extensive trial, arbitration, and appellate experience.  He has also advised an array of corporate clients on transactional matters, including the selection and formation of business entities and the negotiation and drafting of various commercial contracts.

Mr. Meyers was admitted to the California Bar in 2009.  He has spent his entire legal career with Hill, Farrer & Burrill, and manages the firm’s accounting and finance operations.  Mr. Meyers was recognized as a Rising Star by Los Angeles Magazine for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Mr. Meyers received his JD/MBA degree in 2009 from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law and Marshall School of Business.  He graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and a concentration in finance, along with a second major in Psychology.  Prior to his graduate studies, Mr. Meyers worked as an investment banking analyst at Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York, and as a financial analyst for the County of New York District Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Meyers is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Legal Malpractice / Fiduciary Duty / Joint Ownership

Following two-week trial, obtained defense verdict for major law firm on malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims arising out of underlying dispute over joint ownership of real estate acquisition and development company.

Trade Secret Misappropriation

Obtained complete defense verdict after 10-day jury trial for client sued by former employer for trade secret misappropriation and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with formation of competing business.

Legal Malpractice / Bankruptcy

Prevailed at trial in legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty action against client, a large law firm, which was accused of failing to competently represent creditor in underlying bankruptcy proceeding.  Judgment affirmed on appeal.

Breach of Contract / Arbitration

Obtained and confirmed arbitration award for client arising from breach of asset purchase agreement, including award of attorneys’ fees and costs in full; successfully defended against counter-claims for breach of contract and fraud.

Breach of Contract / Alter Ego

Obtained judgment following trial in breach of contract action against owner/officer of corporation under alter ego theory of liability.
