CASEY L. MORRIS practices law in the areas of labor and employment and general civil litigation, including contract disputes, trade secret, copyright and music law, in both state and federal court.  Ms. Morris specializes in advising employers regarding employment policies and conflict avoidance, as well as litigating and arbitrating employment, labor  and contract disputes, including the defense of wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and accommodation claims.

CASEY L. MORRIS practices law in the areas of labor and employment and general civil litigation, including contract disputes, trade secret, copyright and music law, in both state and federal court.  Ms. Morris specializes in advising employers regarding employment policies and conflict avoidance, as well as litigating and arbitrating employment, labor  and contract disputes, including the defense of wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and accommodation claims.

Ms. Morris also represents employers in matters before the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, and other federal and state administrative agencies.  In addition, Ms. Morris counsels employers on their handbooks and policies, discipline and separation procedures, workplace privacy issues, and compliance with state and federal leave laws. Ms. Morris also represents multiple joint apprenticeship programs and counsels them with regard to DAS and ERISA issues.  She has represented employers in the health care, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, service, defense, entertainment and retail industries, among many others.

Ms. Morris received her Juris Doctorate degree in 2005 from Loyola Law School, graduating cum laude and with the highest honors awards in multiple subjects. Ms. Morris is a member of the Order of the Coif and the St. Thomas More Legal Honor Society. She served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judith Ashmann-Gerst, California Court of Appeal, Second District, and worked as a mediator for the Loyola Law School Center for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Morris was admitted to the California Bar in 2005, and has been admitted to practice before of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Her professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Before attending law school, Ms. Morris graduated Cum Laude from Tulane University with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science. She then received a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in Epidemiology. Prior to her legal career, she worked for several years on the financial side of the music business.

Defense of Age, Sex and Race Discrimination Claim

Obtained summary judgment in favor of client in U.S. District Court against claims for age, sex and race discrimination.

Wrongful Termination of Apprentice Agreement

Successfully defended the local branch of one of the nation’s largest joint apprenticeship programs against a claim for wrongful termination of an apprentice’s agreement in the United States District Court, Central District of California, resulting in the case being dismissed.

Breach of Contract

Obtained summary judgment and an award of attorneys’ fees in favor of a nationwide manufacturing company against a multi-million dollar complex breach of contract claim involving a real estate agreement and a bankruptcy.

Employment Related Claims Defense

Successfully defended one of the largest cable companies in the U.S. against employment related claims, resulting in a favorable settlement on behalf of the client.

Wrongful Termination Grievance

Successfully defended a wrongful termination grievance against one of the largest beverage companies in the Americas, resulting in an award in favor of the employer.

Violation of Collective Bargaining Agreement

Successfully negotiated and arbitrated multiple claims for violations of a collective bargaining agreement against one of the nations largest defense and aerospace contractors.

Trade Secret Protection

Effectively protected the trade secrets of a supply company from a former employee who misappropriated and divulged confidential information to a competitor.

Employment Sexual Harassment/Discrimination

Successfully resolved claims for sexual harassment, discrimination and wrongful discharge against an international logistics company after effectively removing the case from superior court to arbitration.
