WILLIAM W. STECKBAUER is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.  His focus is on commercial and real estate litigation and leasing, and he represents large and mid-sized developers, real property owners, and entrepreneurs in business and real estate matters. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Steckbuaer was the founding member and managing partner of the real estate boutique law firm of Steckbauer Weinhart, LLP.

As a trial attorney, Mr. Steckbauer has represented landlords, developers and commercial property owners in a wide variety of litigation, including, successfully obtaining judgments and arbitration awards in his clients favor on matters such as partnership dissolution, partition, breach of lease/contract, fraud, mechanics liens, construction disputes and easement issues.

Mr. Steckbauer is named to the 2024 Southern California Super Lawyers list.

Mr. Steckbauer’s philosophy in all legal matters is to conduct a cost/benefit analysis to determine whether litigation and/or alternative creative approaches are the best path to sound resolution. In cases where settlement is unattainable, he has the experience and tenacity to achieve client goals before an arbitrator, judge or jury.  Throughout his more than 35 years of practice, Mr. Steckbauer has successfully tried and arbitrated dozens of real estate and business disputes.

Mr. Steckbauer has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer every year since 2006, a peer review rating reserved for the top five percent of lawyers in each state and was named one of “Southern California Super Lawyers’ Top 100 Lawyers” in 2009, 2010 and 2012.  He has previously acted as a provisional director appointed by the Los Angeles Superior Court.  Mr. Steckbauer is preeminent “AV” peer rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for ethical and professional standards.

Obtained judgment in favor of owner of ground lease

Obtained judgment after court trial in favor of owner/ground lessor in its disputes with ground lessee involving multi-million-dollar possessory tax and other ground lease issues involving a Newport Harbor frontage commercial building.
