Billy represents a range of business clients, including individual shareholders, officers, and directors, privately held medium- and large-sized companies, and some of the nation’s most well-respected law firms.

Billy’s practice emphasis on complex commercial torts and financially intricate matters is the natural evolution of a background in business.

While a law student at the University of Southern California, Billy earned a combined JD/MBA degree under an expanded graduate curriculum with USC’s Marshall School of Business. He received his undergraduate degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. Prior to his graduate studies, Billy worked as a New York-based financial analyst—first with the investment bank Bear Stearns, and then at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Billy is a career Hill Farrer attorney, beginning with a summer clerkship in 2008. He also manages the firm’s accounting and finance operations, and assists with a variety of risk management matters.

Legal Malpractice / Fiduciary Duty / Joint Ownership

Following two-week trial, obtained defense verdict for major law firm on malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims arising out of underlying dispute over joint ownership of real estate acquisition and development company.

Trade Secret Misappropriation

Obtained complete defense verdict after 10-day jury trial for client sued by former employer for trade secret misappropriation and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with formation of competing business.

Legal Malpractice / Bankruptcy

Prevailed at trial in legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty action against client, a large law firm, which was accused of failing to competently represent creditor in underlying bankruptcy proceeding.  Judgment affirmed on appeal.

Breach of Contract / Arbitration

Obtained and confirmed arbitration award for client arising from breach of asset purchase agreement, including award of attorneys’ fees and costs in full; successfully defended against counter-claims for breach of contract and fraud.

Breach of Contract / Alter Ego

Obtained judgment following trial in breach of contract action against owner/officer of corporation under alter ego theory of liability.
